Human Ecology Advisory Board Dennis Hulsing

Dennis Hulsing grew up in Topeka, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in 1985 with a B.S. in Business Administration.  He has two sons, Kyle and Will, both presently attending Kansas State University.  Dennis and his wife, Jill, make their home in Prairie Village, Kansas.

Dennis began his career working for Marriott from 1983-1991 (seven years corporate and one-year franchise) at various capacities ending as an Area Manager.  He then worked for Omni Hotel for nine years from 1991-2000 and was a Senior Vice President with the company.  In 1989 Dennis began purchasing rental properties and accumulated 44 properties, which he then sold in 1999. Dennis then branched out on his own and started Hulsing Hotels, LLC. In the last 14 years Dennis has bought and sold numerous companies, including hotels, racquet clubs, and a spa.  Each property purchased has been extensively renovated and upgraded.

Dennis Hulsing is the President and CEO of Hulsing Enterprises, LLC with corporate offices in Mission, Kansas, and Asheville, North Carolina.  Hulsing Enterprises currently owns, and operates or affiliates with more than 30 businesses.

Crowne Plaza Tennis & Golf Resort, Asheville, NC

Purchased in March 2004 as a Holiday Inn, this property underwent significant renovations and converted to a Crowne Plaza Resort in June 2005.

Holiday Inn Johnson City, TN

Purchased in 2007, this property underwent a total renovation in 2008.

Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Bristol, VA

After managing this hotel for three years, this property was purchased in February 2011 with a total renovation soon after.

Holiday Inn Lawrence, KS

Purchased in March 2006 and renovated soon after.

Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown, NC

Purchased in July 2001 as a Best Western, this property underwent significant renovations and converted to a Four Points by Sheraton in 2006.

Four Points by Sheraton Kansas City Sports Complex, MO

Purchased in April 2003, this property was previously a Clarion and recently underwent a multi-million renovation and change of flag.

Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan, KS

Purchased in February 2006 as a Holiday Inn, this property was renovated and converted to a Clarion in September 2006. The property recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation and change of flag.

Four Points by Sheraton Kansas City Airport, MO

Purchased in June 2013. This hotel was recently purchased retaining a 20% minority partner and is preparing for a renovation to begin in 2014.

Holiday Inn Greensboro, NC

Formerly the Inn at Greensboro Airport, this property is managed by Hulsing Hotels for Carter Bank & Trust as of June 2011. This hotel recently had a multi-million dollar renovation and conversion.

Holiday Inn Express Bradenton West, Bradenton Florida

Purchased in January of 2017. This property is currently under renovation and expected to be complete in 2018.
